UVA AR
Founded in 1819 by Thomas Jefferson, the University of Virginia was designed with a library at its center. While the university has evolved and changed over time, the library has remained a constant fixture in the life of the university. The library’s 2014 annual report celebrates this idea. The annual report begins with the guiding North Star, a symbol of the library’s continuing guidance to those navigating their academic careers at the University of Virginia. A hole is punched in place of the North Star and pierces the entire book. As the reader turns the page, the hole remains in place, playfully interacting with artwork from the library's collection and transforming the book into a symbol of the library’s enduring mission and presence.
